Golf course packages can give you the best vacation you have had in years, provided you do your homework in advance and make sure you avoid any pitfalls. The main advantage of these package trips is that you don't really need to do any work or preparation. Everything is done for you, and you just need to turn up and have the vacation. If you are extremely busy and need to completely relax, this can be a great way of organizing your golfing trip. If you need more flexibility, you can always arrange everything yourself, but you will need to know exactly what to do.

There are many different types of golf holidays, and if you organize everything yourself you have total freedom in what you do. The first step you need to take is to work out what you would like to do on your trip. If other people are coming with you, it is important to consider their needs as well. If they do not share your passion for golf, you will need to make sure there is something for them to do in the vicinity of every course you will be traveling to.

If the whole party is comprised of golfing fanatics, then the whole trip should be far easier to arrange. You need only be concerned with finding the right golf courses, making sure that you have booked the right tee times, and then working out the logistics of where to stay and how to travel. If some of the courses you want to visit are among the most popular, it will be better to program them for a time outside of the peak summer season. Although they are busy all year round, they are still less crowded at these times.

If there is a package which suits you, by all means take it as it will cut down the amount of organizing which you have to do. On the other hand, this organizing is never as difficult as it might seem at first, and it can be done in stages over several weeks. If none of the package trips looks like it is right for you, then it will be better to sort your own trip out in exactly the way you want it. Don't feel obliged to sacrifice what you are really looking for to go on golf course packages.
